I got it!!!

Camden has been saving his money to buy his very own Lighting McQueen digital camera. He has earned money by brushing his teeth, getting dressed, helping with the dogs, and making good choices at school. All the hard work payed off and he got saved enough money to get his camera. I have never seen the kid so excited before:)

Weekend Visitors

My Aunt Cathy and cousin Kristin came into town this weekend for a wedding. It was so nice to see them both. We had so much fun getting our babies together again. Taylan and Katelyn were born 1 week apart and they were so much fun to watch together. Taylan hates laying on his back and Katelyn hates laying on her tummy. They played to the best of their abilities:)

Training wheels are for babies!!!

Camden and I have been riding our bikes almost every night this week. On the way home from preschool tonight, he told me that he wants to cut off his training wheels when he gets home. I have no idea where the idea came from, but he was pretty adamant about taking those training wheels off. Mark and I figured if he was asking us to take them off, he must be ready to go, so we took them off. I put his helmet on and his elbow pads because I was just sure he would crash and burn. I was so nervous!!
Imagine our surprise when he just took off riding!! He never ceases to amaze me at what he is able to accomplish on his own. I still think of him as my little baby, but he is so independent. Riding a bike all by himself, without training wheels... Next thing I know, the boy will be driving.

Home Opener Defeat!

So we went to our first official CHIEFS game as season ticket holders this afternoon. How embarrassing!! This was what I have been waiting for all my life??? I am a big fan and I will stick with them through this "rebuilding period," but oh my gosh!!! TERRIBLE!!!! There in the last 8 minutes of the game all I was hoping for was a field goal. Forget about winning, just get a point on the board!!! The thought of being shut-out at our home opener against the RAIDERS was to much to bear!!! Thank goodness we pulled it together and Tony G. got a touchdown for us!!! What a year this is going to be!! At least the tailgating was fun. I got to hang out with my friend Kelly for awhile!!

Camden and Katelyn are true fans too!! They had a blast at Grandma and Grandpa's house!! Katelyn looks so cute as a little Chiefs cheerleader!! ADORABLE!!!

Strawberry Shortcake

You have gotta love a girl all dressed up in strawberries!! She was in such a good mood today, we had to break out the camera. Smile little princess!!!

Big Week for 1st things

Katelyn slept all night for the first time on Sunday night. Granted, she hasn't done it sense, but I was really excited. Last night for the first time, she started laughing, really laughing. Mark was making silly faces at her and she would just bust out laughing. It was absolutely adorable!! Now, she is laughing all the time especially when she sees herself in the mirror. She coos and flails her body all over the place. I love it!! She has such a dazzling personality!!

Camden has been sick. He woke up last night with a 102 fever. Poor guy! Not being able to snuggle Katelyn has been really hard on him. I hope he is better by tomorrow. It's RED FRIDAY!!! Go Chiefs!!!!!!

Katelyn 3 Months

My baby girl is 3 months old!!! She is smiling and cooing every waking minute of the day. She is rolling over from belly to back all the time and is getting really close to rolling over from her back to her belly, but she is not quite there yet. She loves to imitate what you do with your mouth and tries to get your attention at every possible moment. She is honestly the BEST BABY EVER!!! She eats, sleeps, poops, laughs, and smiles all the time! Compared to Camden, this is almost a dream! Way to easy to be true!!!

September = Soccer

Camden and I spent some quality "mommy time" together this afternoon. We went to Dicks to buy Camden's soccer gear. Practices start on Tuesday and games will start next week. He is so excited!! T-ball was a little rough for him b/c he got so bored while playing the field and waiting for his turn to bat... All he wanted to do was run. Soccer.... I have a feeling is right up his alley:) RUN, RUN, and RUN some more! We practiced in the back yard and I wore the kid out. He was asleep in bed at 7:30!!! I think I will really like soccer too:)

Daddy Time

Mark is such an incredible dad!! Mark layed down to read Camden his night-night books and laid his head on a soccer ball. Next thing you know, Camden is running all over the place looking for his pillow soccer ball to lay his head on. They read the books Mmm, Cookies by Robert Munch (my all time favorite childrens book author). Camden loves it when his daddy reads to him.Little Daddy's Girl!!!

Labor Day Fun!

Labor Day weekend was celebrated in style this year. We basically lived over at my parents house. We had ribs, smoked brisket, chocolate chip cookies, and Camden and Mark's favorite...Custard Pie. So much for Mark and my diet. We put it on pause for the week. Here are a few pictures to capture the fun events of the weekend.

Superhero's... The kids had so much fun tying their towels around their necks and pretending they were superheros. They were all over the yard:)

Family Game Night

The other night while I was reading Camden his "night-night" books he took the book and started reading it to me. I figured it was because he has heard the book 15 million times, so I pulled a book off the shelf that he has not heard before. The little stinker starts reading all the sight words: it, I , the , is, in, you, car, with. I couldn't believe it. He has always been really smart, so I can't say I was truly surprised. The past few months I have been real careful about what I teach him. I really don't want him to be bored in kindergarten next year so I have not really put to much attention on letters or words. I guess it goes to show that some kids can learn to read on their own once they know their letters and sounds.

It has truly hit me this year how smart that little kiddo is. I have been testing the kindergartners in my building all week and not one kindergartner in the entire school so far has known every letter AND every sound. A few have came really close, but missed a sound or two. Just out of curiosity, I took the test home and gave it to Camden. PERFECT SCORE!!! He is not supposed to go to kindergarten for another year and even at that he will be one of the youngest in his class. I feel so sorry for his teacher next year. Actually, it is a good thing he is smart because I have a feeling he is going to be a stinker in the behavior department!!!

I decided that he is smart enough to handle playing some games I play with my kindergartners at school, so last night we had our first official "Family Game Night." We played ABC BINGO and had a really great time!!! Camden would get so excited when he got a bingo that he would scream and jump up and down! He wanted to play over and over again. I think we played that game 8 times:) It is definitely something we do again soon. Next week, I think we will play a sight word matching game.
